A ’triple threat’ varsity athlete, Rick Schwartz ’95 has made an indelible impact on D-E athletic history. Here are some highlights from his myriad athletic achievements.
Rick played on D-E’s Basketball and Baseball Teams in 1993 when the Bulldogs won the State Championship games. That same year he received D-E’s Umps & Dux Trophy. He played on Varsity Baseball in 1994 and 1995, when the Bulldogs won the State Championships again. In 1994, Rick also was named to 1st Team All-State Prep B for Baseball and received Honorable Mention status for All-County in Basketball. In 1995, he was named to 2nd Team All-State Prep for Baseball, 3rd Team All-State Prep for Football, and 1st Team All-State Prep B for Basketball. That same year (1995) he received D-E’s Charles Hardy Award.
During Rick’s D-E Basketball career from 1993-1995, he achieved 983 points. In Baseball, he earned an impressive pitching record of 26 wins and only 4 losses. Rick was also named as a runner-up to Bergen Record’s prestigious “Athlete of the Week” not just once, but two times in this same timeframe.
Rick is a graduate of Hofstra University (Class of 1999), where he played on their Division I-AA (FCS) football from 1995-1997.
